- Other academic work includes being an Adjunct Professor of Finance in the MBA program at Benedictine University in Lisle, Illinois. He has taught Investment Theory & Portfolio Management and other graduate level finance courses there. He has been a guest lecturer at other universities.
Professional Experience
Tom Sleeter has a background in security analysis and portfolio management. This was an area of concentration for him in graduate school at the University of Chicago from 1970-1973.
From 1971 – 1979, Tom was at Nalco Chemical Company where he had a series of progressively more responsible positions culminating as Assistant Treasurer.
Tom was employed at USG Corporation in Chicago from 1984 to 1991. For a portion of that time, until leaving the firm, he served as Director, Pension Investments, where he oversaw the management of the $300 million corporate pension fund.
From 1991 to 1992, Tom was Vice-President and Chief Financial Officer of Health Directions, a physician practice & surgery center management firm.
In 1993, Tom started Heartland Capital Resources, a financial consulting firm that focuses on business valuation studies and special projects.
In 2008, he became an investment advisor affiliated with and Chief Investment Officer of Total Clarity Wealth Management, Inc, a registered investment advisory firm. He has been affiliated with Cetera Advisor Networks LLC since 1998.
Tom is active in civic affairs and enjoys traveling, boating, reading and hunting. He serves on the board of Northern Michigan Land LLC, the Downers Grove Lions Club, and North Providence Ridge Cemetery Association. He is a member of the Economics Department Alumni Advisory Board at Michigan State University. He is the father of two grown children and lives with his wife in Downers Grove.
